  • The Denton County LOSS Team (Local Outreach to Suicide Survivors) exists to provide immediate, compassionate, and ongoing support to individuals and families who have lost a loved one to suicide. We aim to help survivors navigate the earliest stages of loss with dignity, connection, and hope—ensuring that no one in Denton County faces suicide loss alone.

  • The LOSS Team responds to scenes of suicide deaths or reaches out soon after the loss to provide compassionate presence, connect survivors with local and national resources, and help them navigate the early stages of grief.

  • Launched in 2015, our team of seasoned suicide-loss survivors and mental health professionals has stood shoulder-to-shoulder with more than 2,000 individuals. Many survivors reach a point in their healing where they want to turn their pain into purpose. Volunteering allows them to honor their loved one’s memory by helping others through a similar experience. It transforms tragedy into a meaningful act of service.

  • Since 2015, the Denton County LOSS Team has been fortunate to partner with the Denton County Medical Examiners Office, who notifies the LOSS Team Coordinator as soon as there is a suspected suicide death in the county.

  • The LOSS Team works to connect ALL suicide loss survivors in our community with resources and support regardless of when the loss occurred. It is never too late to ask for help.
